5th Annual Slam Jam
State Farm Insurance and NYLC are partnering with E.A. Laney High School to spread awareness on teen driver safety by partnering with the Project Ignition program. The goal of the program is to help draw upon the problem of distracted driving and seatbelt use amongst teens. Despite the funding from State Farm, Laney High School is in need of additional help in putting together the Fifth Annual Slam Jam.
- The Slam Jam Basketball Game
- The Half time show which will include a student versus faculty relay race and half court shot competition.
- A pre-event expo with different stations that inform students on statistics of distracted driving and seat belt use. A business can sponsor a booth and give out information.
- A pre-game event competition called the “Quick Click Challenge” where two students will compete to see who can put on a seat belt the quickest 5 times.
- “Second Chance Chair” which will be a car seat on the sidelines where a player will sit if they commit a hard foul. The player will have to sit until they are able to answer a question about driving statistics.
- The Save a Life Tour, which is an organization that comes to schools and teaches students about the dangers of distracted driving in an interactive presentation that includes massive tour posters, high intensity videos, and charismatic show presenters that engage participants.
