Sports & Entertainment Marketing II is designed for students interested in an advanced study of sports, entertainment, and event marketing. Emphasis is placed on the following principles as they apply to the industry: Business management, career development options, client relations, ethics, events management, facilities management, legal issues and contracts, promotion, and sponsorships. Skills in communications, human relations, mathematics, psychology, and technical writing are reinforced in this course. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include cooperative education, paid/unpaid internships, or school-based enterprises. Marketing simulations, projects, teamwork, DECA leadership activities, meetings, conferences, and competitions provide many opportunities for application of instructional competencies, 60% of the curriculum is material, 40% is application. Combined with a service learning Component , Sports & Entertainment Marketing II class creates and markets a student vs faculty basketball game to raise money and awarness of specific issues with the school and community
